Creating Camtasia Videos to Enhance Student Learning in the Online & Face-to-Face Classroom
Presenter: Valerie Thomas, English Department
This workshop will help both online and face-to-face instructors learn how to use Camtasia software to create screen capture videos to enhance student learning. If you teach online, Camtasia videos will allow you to move beyond text-based instruction to provide personalized instruction and interaction with your students. For those who teach in the classroom, Camtasia videos can provide a way to reinforce ideas you present in class so students retain and understand them better.
Camtasia is a screen-capture program by Tech Smith that allows you to add and edit audio narration to PowerPoint presentations or capture any document or website that you can display on your computer screen. It can be useful for creating visual tours of websites or demonstrating how to use a software program. You can also create, review, or make changes to documents or images, allowing you to show students how to create, edit, identify, or understand various types of content. You can even use Camtasia to provide audio comments on student work, creating a stronger sense of interaction between student and instructor.
During the workshop, we will discuss and view a variety of different ways Camtasia can be used in the classroom. Participants will also have the opportunity to record and edit a short Camtasia video during the workshop so they will have hands-on experience necessary to create their own videos in the future.
