Pathway to Transforming Student Learning and Persistence in Gateway Science and Math Courses, 

Participants in this workshop will examine data on why aspiring STEM majors depart their chosen fields, and how faculty choices in course design and instructional strategies improve student persistence, motivation, and learning in the introductory science and mathematics courses that serve as gateways to these majors. Emphasis is placed on approaches that maintain rigorous standards for learning scientific content and approaches to scientific study.  The workshop serves as an introduction to the course-reform projects component of the Inclusive Undergraduate STEM Success programs coordinated by OSET and Student Services (see http://oset.unm.edu/IUSS.html for more information).
