
Effective Classroom Teaching and Learning with Student Groups
This workshop develops the rationale for replacing traditional lecture with student learning in groups and explores strategies for supporting effective learning with groups. Topics include, group composition, the importance of team building, the nature of effective assignments, assessing learning and team effectiveness, and engaging students with potentially unfamiliar expectations.
The workshop includes strategies for implementation in learning-studio classrooms but is broadly applicable for all instructors wanting to learn more about in-class collaborative learning.
