September 2009: Plans have been set in motion to host an international conference in Kloster Seeon, Germany on August 1 - 6, 2010 on the topic of Heterogeneous Catalysis For Biomass Conversion.

August 2009: 9 PIRE participants from the US partnership have departed to Denmark to participate in the CINF Summer School program on Reactivity of Nanoparticles for More Efficient and Sustainable Energy Production.

August 2009: Congratulations to PIRE Participants Patrick Burton (University of New Mexico), Carrie Farberow (University of Wisconsin-Madisson), and Rebekah Oakes (University of Wisconsin-Madisson) for successful summer internships in Copenhagen, Denmark. Please view the Students and Research sections for more details on their work and experiences.

May 2009: Carrie Farberow, Rebekah Oakes, and Patrick Burton have departed for research internships at the Technical University of Denmark and Haldor Topsoe A/S.

September 2008: NSF Launches an ERC for Biorenewable Chemicals
