PIRE International Graduate Research Internship

The UNM PIRE International Graduate Research Internship provides an opportunity for students to conduct cutting-edge research co-supervised by US faculty and international research partners in one of three project areas:

Conversion of Biomass into Materials
Selective Conversion of HMF under Reducing Conditions
Selective Conversion of HMF and its Derivatives Under Oxidizing Conditions

The Graduate Resarch Internship consists of the following:

- 4-month research internship at international research sites in Denmark or Germany
- Round-trip airfare and housing arrangements paid for by the program
- Complete a one-semester course at DTU or Germany while traveling abroad
- Mentorship of a PIRE International REU intern
- Attend national and/or international conferences
- Field trips to companies or national labs
- Monthly Subsistence
- Option to attend UNM PIRE Summer Conference
