UNM Graduate Course: Survey of Organizational Communication Course Comments (Fall 2005)
Pam is a wonderful, enthusiastic member of the
department. The strengths of the course included preparedness, disciplinary and
subject knowledge, classroom leadership, excellent course design, EXTRAORDINARY
efforts to prepare reading selections and materials for students.
Pam is very friendly and fun to talk to. She really
brings in her years of work experience to articulate ideas and concepts,
offering good examples where applicable. She give students many opportunities
to speak. The discussions, and the fact that we could ask anything, was great.
The use of WebCT was also easy and helpful. Her grading was fair; she always
gave good, thoughtful comments.
Pam has a great deal of
knowledge about the subject and always has interesting commentary. She runs a
good classroom. I liked the wealth of articles I've acquired that relate to
organizational communication. Her grading was done in a fair and constructive
manner.
UNM Undergraduate Course: Business and Professional Communication Course Comments (Fall 2005)
This was one of my favorite classes in the 3 1/2 years
I've been at UNM. This teacher was so fair, and I loved that I always knew my
grade in the class. Awesome assignments; I really learned a lot. Grading was
terrific. I wish more teachers conducted their classes like this one. I think
the retention rate would be higher.
I really appreciate the enthusiasm that Pam brought to
our class. She created an environment that was warm and friendly. Students were
comfortable asking questions. I really enjoyed coming to class. I also enjoyed
the team dynamic utilized in this class. It was helpful. I really hope to have
Pam again.
Dr. Pam has a challenging yet student-friendly course
structure. My listening, writing, and speaking skills improved. Grading was
straightforward, fair, and thorough.
This class surprised me! Each class built upon the last
one, making the class more and more relevant as the semester continued. In the
end, this class, which at first I found boring, taught some of the most
important lessons that I will continue to use in my future career.
Very fun! Adapted to needs of class :-) Open-minded
instructor.
Pam provided knowledge of the subject that was greatly
useful to the students. The entire course was beneficial.
Pam made the classroom environment fun and interesting.
Excellent instructor. Teams were great. Excellent course;
needs no improvement.
Pam is extremely personable and approachable. She was
also willing to teach in a way that was a welcoming break from most other
university classes.
Pam had a lot of work experience and was able to apply
that to explain concepts clearer. It was a good class; I enjoyed it and learned
a lot.
Pam's strength is structuring
the class so that expectations, grading, etc. were clear.
Arizona State University Student Letters
I just wanted to thank you for making the class
interesting even though some of the material for the course was kind of dry. I
thought that you did an excellent job at trying to keep our attention through
you colorful examples and personal stories. I really enjoyed the class,
which was a surprise because I was told going into the class that I would dread
it. Thanks again for the encouraging comments. I wish that I could
sign up for the class that you are teaching in the fall but I have not taken
the required previous class. Hopefully I will be able to be in one of your
classes again in the future. Good luck with your teaching and your research. I
will see you around campus. Thanks again, B.T.
I just wanted to write you to tell you what a great
experience I had in your class last semester. COM 207 is one of the two
classes (308 is the other) that I had so much anxiety about taking. You
made it a fun class to come to, and I thought your teaching style was
great. I also appreciated your openness about your life experiences,
because I feel like they motivated me, and helped me to realize that I can
overcome any obstacles to meet my goals.
I really learned a lot. You taught me in a way that
I really had a clear idea of what I was supposed to do and you
gave me all the tools I needed to successfully write the final paper and
the skills necessary to succeed in the rest of my classes. I am taking 308
right now in the two week intersession, and I have already used a lot of things
I learned in your class. I wish I could have taken it with you, but I
needed to take it now, so that I could take the rest of the classes I need this
summer to finish by August. There are four other students in my 308 class
that were in your class, and we have all talked about what a great teacher you
are.
I just wanted to let you know what a positive impact you
had on me. Thanks so much! M.C. (Spring 2004)
Thanks so much for the help and correspondence. I don't
see that too often from professors. Thanks again. A.W. (Fall 2003)
Thank you so much for passing on that information :-). I
have never had a professor who has helped this much. Usually, they give the
assignment and that's it. I really appreciate it. I look forward to this class
on Fridays as well. You seem like an interesting and funny professor. J. (Fall
2003)
I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your
class. I honestly think it was one of the best classes I've ever taken for
class participation. Time spent in class was fun, and I really enjoyed your
style. Thanks for the great experience. T.S. (Summer, 2002)
Thank you for the thank you. Believe me, we were not just
saying those things to you to brighten your day. You have really been an
inspiration to us. The problem is that you have spoiled our class with such a
fun teaching style that the Sophomores and Juniors are going to have a reality
shock when they get a different kind of teacher for their next COM classes.
After being at ASU for four
years, I can honestly say you have been one of my best teachers there. The way
you open up to students, allow personal discussion time, plan fun activities
and make the class laugh are all benefits of taking a class from you. Not only
have the girls on my team and I learned from you this semester as a teacher,
but we have also gained a friend. It is rare to find teachers that you can
relate to, but with you we were just plain lucky.
So, all in all, THANK YOU for being
such a kick ass teacher this semester. I hope you find the time to come to
graduation and see us walk. thanks again Pam for making my last semester finish
with a bang. M.E. (Fall 2002)
I just wanted to tell you that I really liked what you
said yesterday about happiness. It was probably one of the best things I have
ever heard a teacher say. It is good to be reminded of what is really important
in life. Thank you. T.P. (Fall 2001)
A couple weeks ago I was sent to a three-day seminar on
Motivational Interviewing and swore I would send you an email afterwards, as I
wrote a whole page on you during the class. We had to write about our favorite
teacher--you were mine--I read it to the class. I spoke of your ability to
empower people, your ability to take risks, the way you encourage others to
take risks, that you acknowledge both fear and failure, but always taught that
this is not a dress rehearsal--go for it. I guess, basically that you practice
what you preach, and that you constantly praised and encouraged. Anyway, it
made me miss you more than ever. C.C. (Fall 2001).
Thank you for making COM 407 such a great experience. I
thoroughly enjoyed the discussions we had in class. I'm still thinking through
some of the issues that were brought up. Thanks again for all the help and
encouragement. It means so much. B.H. (Summer, 2003).
Again, thank you so much for everything you've done for
me this semester! I truly appreciate the energy you have spent writing letters
and revising essays. I am so glad I was able to learn from such an
inspirational teacher. Your hard work was recognized by everyone! All my best
wishes to you in the New Year. N.Z. (Fall, 2001).
You are such a wonderful teacher and woman. Thanks for making COM 207 a great learning experience. Thanks for all the help. You are an inspiration to us all. C.S. (Spring 2003).
