Current opportunities: There is currently a postdoctoral position available at LANL working on our collaborative rainfall manipulation project in pinon-juniper woodland. See the advertisement for this position here.
Upcoming opportunities: We anticipate advertising for another postdoctoral position at UNM with a start date in roughly March 2010. To be notified of developments related to this position contact W. Pockman (UNM)
The Project: A DOE funded collaboration with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) addressing the hydraulic mechanisms of survival and mortality of piñon and juniper trees during drought. Field work focuses on quantifying responses to ecosystem-scale increases and decreases in precipitation. The project includes opportunities for measurements and modeling of plant water relations, carbon balance and stable isotopes. UNM and LANL have a strong group in physiological ecology, ecosystem science and eco-hydrology facilitating interactions with scientists in related areas.
For more information contact Will Pockman (pockman at unm dot edu) and/or Nate McDowell (mcdowell at lanl dot gov).
