Three win State Bar essay contest

The winners of the State Bar of New Mexico High School
Essay Contest were announced at the annual Law Day luncheon last week.
The contest is sponsored by the Bar's Public Legal Education
Committee and the Modrall Sperling Law Firm.
The topic, "Where's the Balance?" tried to raise the
issue of having to balance the public's demands for increased security against
specific rights that are guaranteed to citizens.
Danielle Lewis, the third-place
winner and recipient of $150, is a senior at Alamogordo High School. She has been
accepted by Amherst College in Massachusetts.
Kellen Funk, the second-place winner
and the recipient of $350, is a junior at Grace Baptist Academy in Farmington.
Funk plans to attend Bob Jones University for pre-law and plans to work in law
or political science.
Sarah Pepin, the first-place winner
and recipient of $700, is a junior at Capital High in Santa Fe. Pepin wants to
become a judge.
