| Our Ph.D. program in Cognition, Brain and Behavior
(CBB) reflects a unique opportunity for training in experimental
psychology. We believe that immediate, hands-on experience, coupled
with comprehensive course work, builds competent, confident students
capable of developing a competitive research profile. Students enter
under a faculty mentor and begin active research in the first year.
There are three concentrations in the Cognition, Brain and Behavior
area: Cognitive/Learning, Behavioral Neuroscience and Cognitive
Neuroimaging. For more information about the CBB area, please contact Dr. Derek Hamilton. Program Requirements: All CBB students are required to complete the following three core courses in the CBB area (3 credits each):
In addition, all CBB students in the second and all subsequent years will participate in a literature discussion section (Psych 641) once a year. Psych 641: Seminar in Cognition, Brain, and Behavior (2 credits) (Staff) All CBB students will be required to select additional elective courses (3 credits each) from the CBB area to satisfy a total credit requirement (including core courses, but not including PSY 641) of 15 units. Elective courses are grouped into three concentrations: Cognitive/Learning, Behavioral Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroimaging. Students may select courses from any of these three concentrations. The choice of electives and substitution of any alternative elective courses must be approved by the Committee of Studies. Cognitive/Learning
