Supplier Information Requirements
For the University to set up a supplier as a vendor, certain information is required. This information is required to allow a purchase order to be created, a tax exemption certificate to be issued, and/or a payment to be made by our Accounts Payable Department. In addition to name and address information, a federal tax identification number, the New Mexico gross receipts tax number (for NM businesses), and the business entity type (corporation, sole proprietorship, etc.) are required. If this information is not currently in our databases, you will be required to provide this information prior to an order being issued. Small Business Administration Information
New SBA Certification Requirements - Minority and Women Owned Businesses
Until recently the Small Business Administration (SBA) allowed contractors receiving federal contracts to report expenditures made with minority and women owned businesses that were self certified. The SBA will now be requiring minority business counting for reporting purposes to be certified by the SBA. Since the University is a prime contractor receiving federal funds, we will require that businesses claiming minority business status be certified by the SBA. For your information, a copy of the letter received from the SBA can be found here.
