Known Issues

  • Browser is locking up while attempting to view PDF files, downloaded PDF files are outdated, or user is unable to open PDF files once downloaded.

If you are experiencing problems obtaining PDF files from the Recreational Services Website, there are steps that can be taken which will usually resolve any issues.
First, many browsers cache websites for offline usage, storing pages which you have viewed and files which you have downloaded for later use. When a website is updated, the cache can prevent users from being able to see these updates or obtaining new files, (if you have an old link to download a file, as well as the old file, your comptuer may transfer the old file from the cache.) In order to ensure that you are seeing the most current version of the website and able to obtain the most current files, you should clear your cache first. This option is available in Internet Explorer through the Internet Options menu, and in Firefox through the options menu. If you are using Safari, you may use the empty cache option available in the same dropdown menu as the preferences window.
If emptying the cache does not work, the issue may be with your PDF reader itself. There is a known issue with version 6.0 and below of Adobe Reader which can cause this issue on Windows PCs. Adobe technical support has an article on this issue at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=329344. Additionally, there are other freeware PDF readers available for Windows which in many cases are more stable. One such reader is available here: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php.
Additionally, if you have a slower internet connection, Adobe may suspend the browser for the duration of time which it takes to download a file, which can give the appearance of a frozen browser until the transfer has completed.
