In his research and writing, Rich Wood (author of Faith in Action Religion, Race, and Democratic Organizing in America) examines the cultural and institutional underpinnings of democratic life, especially those linked to religion. As director of UNM's Religious Studies Program, he has focused on strengthening UNM-based scholarship on religion, and on building dialogue between the university and faith communities around New Mexico
