The NSMS REU program accepts applications from undergraduate students in their sophomore and junior years majoring in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science or ceramics. Students at 2-year and community colleges are also eligible if they have been admitted to a degree status institution in the majors listed above. Students MUST be citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
The Nanoscience and Microsystems REU program begins May 24th and ends July 30th (10 week period). Students will receive a stipend of $5,000 and a travel allowance up to $600. The program also provides apartment-style housing at UNM, as well as many fun activities for the students.
Students will be responsible for their, food and household items. Housing is provided at UNM's Student Resident Center. Internet access from your dorm room is available. Students will work in one of the project areas working with UNM faculty and national laboratory scientists. Field trips to local industry and national laboratories will be part of the summer program, as well as social & cultural activities.
Please apply well in advance of the March 5th deadline to assure that your applications will be considered. Applications are not reviewed until all materials have been received by the REU program.
