"What makes a man a good cricketer? Practice. What makes a man a good linguist or a good stenographer? Practice. What makes a man a good man? Practice. Nothing else, and if a man does not exercise his soul no strength of character, no vigor of moral fiber, no beauty of spiritual growth, for love is not a thing of enthusiastic emotion."

JUST COME TO LIGHT
Mrs. Geneva Krooth Carpenter granddaughter of Henry Kroth II, wrote telling of her brother Henry's wife. Jorene Kroth went to the Internal Revenue Service to get help on their Income Tax report. A woman from West Germany helped her. At seeing the name Kroth she told Jorene of a community of Kroth families in Pslaumhaim, West Germany. Joseph was the forebear of the clan, and the German government had given him a large estate after World War II, as he was a successful farmer. The priest in Pslaumheim gets a yearly record of family history of every school child in the system from the school principal. All the Kroth families are of the Catholic faith. The present record is in German, but there are possibilities that a copy of the family record. from Joseph Kroth Sr. through Joseph Kroth Jr. and the 15 families there might be obtained in English by writing the Mayor of Pslaumheim. This much record is known: Joseph Kroth Sr. came from Erlenbach on the Rhine to #98 Pslaunheim, West Germany in 1956, and died in 1934. One son Jacob Kroth was born in 1898. He had three sons and one daughter; Joseph born in 1928, and also Bruno, Reinhold, and Margaret. Joseph is a large farmer near Pslaumheim in the northern tip of Bavaria. All the families are farmers and vineyard owners.

An Upright Citizen Kidnaps His Own Son"
Luther Bell and Claude Mearl Kroth are the sons of Henry Kroth by a former marriage. After Henry married Mae Lew McLeMurry, he tried earnestly to arrange to have his sons by his first wife returned to him. Their mother refused to give up the boys and Henry kidnapped Luther Bell in 1903.
This story is related for the purposes of the Kroth Memoirs by Paddy Walden (Leota Kroth) as told to her in the summer of 1972 by Claude Mearle Kroth. For many years, the family had no contact with Claude but in the recent past Paddy and CLaude had a chance to visit. Claude now lives in Choctaw, Oklahoma.
The story goes that some years ago when Claude was a grown young man he was working in a bvoom corn factory in Oklahome and an old gentleman working in the same factory introduced himself and told Claude that for many years he had wanted to get something off his chest, but he couldn't tell anyone, but now that he had met Claude and established that he was Henry Kroth's son, he wanted to share his secret with him. The old gent told of an outing where Luther and Claude were along with their mother. Henry kidnapped Luther and would liqve taken Claude, but he was quite young and in a carriage with someone watching him. The old gent told Claude that he had hidden Henry and Luther in his barn for three days. The old gent even joined the posse to chase the "kidnapper". Everytime the posse started toward his house, the old man diverted them. After supplying Henry and Luther with food and shelter for three days, the old man gave them a mule and sent them on their way.
The fact that Luther was in fact kidnapped by his own father has been known and told and retold in the fa&ily for many years, but this little sidelight just became known in the summer of 1972.
