Albuquerque—The city of Albuquerque lies a mile above sea level and has a
high-desert climate that allows you to experience the contrast between
desert and forest all under our vast blue sky. A visit to Albuquerque allows you to experience the authentic Southwest. One of the oldest cities in the U.S., and recognized as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the country, Albuquerque boasts a unique multicultural heritage and history.
The Native American culture is probably the most deeply rooted of the many branches that make up the diverse ethnic and cultural environment of New Mexico. Today, a wide variety of Native American culture is available at the 19 Indian pueblos that lie within the boundaries of New Mexico.
Welcome to Albuquerque, and to a land the native people have nurtured, protected, and revered for many more than seven generations. As we gather here to share fellowship and wisdom, let us remember the advise of those elders who met here years ago to plot a course for future generations.
