I am currently pursuing four main lines of research inquiry.  The majority of this research supports the Ph.D. dissertation and M.Sc. thesis needs of my current allotment of senior level graduate students.

The topics are as follows;

Central cardiovascular responses to incremental exercise
cardiac output (CO2 rebreathing)
stroke volume
heart rate

Reassessment of the VO2 plateau at VO2max

Hydration and Renal Physiology
glycerol hyperhydration
optimizing pre-exercise hydration
optimizing hydration during exercise
optimizing rehydration

Altitude Physiology
VO2max
central cardiovascular function
hydration
endurance performance
anaerobic capacity and intense exercise performance

Research within Exercise Science at UNM is predominantly carried out in the research laboratories of the Center For Exercise and Applied Human Physiology (CEAHP).
