We are staying high in the mountains.

Today we plan to drive the most treacherous stretch of all on Route 66. Missouri has its curves, Texas and Oklahoma have their black ice, and California has its speedsters; none can match for sheer switchback terror Sitgreaves Pass, which crosses the Black Mountains in a tortuous passage down to the Colorado River and California.
