Gunnison County, Colorado is seeking candidates for the position of Planner. Under direction, reviews, evaluates and makes recommendations on land use change applications, site plans, environmental assessments, preparing drafts of new land use regulations, providing staff support and making presentations to boards, commissions and the public. Requirements for this position include a bachelor's degree in land use planning, urban planning, landscape architecture, environmental resources or a closely-related field; employment by or for elected officials, and a minimum of two years experience in municipal or county land use planning, or an equivalent comination of education, training, and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities. Knowledge of land use laws and comprehnsive planning, and competency with personal computers is necessary. Experience in environmental resources and on Colorado's Western Slope is highly desirable. Gunnison County is a large, mountainous rural county with an economic base including agriculture, recreation, mining ang a four-year college.
