CRP/GSA
The Community and Regional Planning Graduate Students Association is a place for dialogue. Recognizing that planning is a group process, the CRP/GSA operates with a coordinating committee rather than a traditional board structure. All members share responsibility for the functioning of the organization. The CRP/GSA offers opportunities for mutual support through meetings, projects, workshops, involvement in the community, and connections with the greater university. The CRP/GSA seeks to develop professional planning skills, principally by the action agendas that arise from the studentıs own diverse academic and professional needs.

PILA
The purpose of Planners in Latin America (PILA) is to advocate on behalf of students whose interests lie in the area of Latin American Studies and Planning. PILA brings together students interested in discussing issues and exchanging ideas by encouraging presentations of their research and experiences. PILA organizes and promotes events relating to planning in Latin America. PILA is a planning resource for information including academic journals, current job openings, and career opportunities. The organization seeks to network with others who can offer support and expertise for students making the transition from academics to the work setting.

RCRP
Resource Center for Raza Planning is an organization of university and community-based research activists who promote integration betwen higher education and traditional communities through the application of planning processes and techniques. It seeks to maintain the sustainability and survivability of traditional communities that are threated by colonization. It begins by asking: who benefits and who pays from social and planning policies? The scope of work includes research, resource development, education, and dissemination. The organization contributes to policy debates and decisions through analysis and recommendations for alternative strategies.

STUDENT APA
SAAP maintains a student chapter of the American Planning Association (APA). This organization provides a forum for students to exchange ideas and information with local and regional professional planners and offers opportunities to make their first professional contacts. Being a member of the UNM chapter of the APA allows graduate students to receive the New Planner newsletter. The Chapter, in cooperation with the New Mexico APA, receives valuable help in preparing for the AICP exam. Full time students at UNM are encouraged to join the APA with full privileges at reduced membership dues.
