DPAC

Design and Planning Assistance Center
Director--Ed Norris (505-277-3654)

The Design Planning Assistance Center (DPAC) is a community service organization that provides environmental research, planning, and design assistance to groups of individuals throughout New Mexico who wish to solve problems of their physical environment but cannot afford to pay conventional professional fees. Located in the SAAP Vassar Street Professional Annex, DPAC was established in 1969 in response to a nationwide movement (Volunteers in Service to America or VISTA) to make planning and architectural services available to low-income groups and individuals.

Center for Research & Development

The Center for Research & Development (CRD) supports faculty research and development. CRD supports creative, applied and theoretical efforts in all aspects of the built environment. Special attention is given to research that addresses Southwest research issues. CRD seeks to involve CRP students in faculty research efforts.

Masters in Water Resources Administration

The Masters in Water Resources Administration (MWRA) is a professional degree designed to prepare students for careers in water management. The degree program is interdisciplinary and focuses on water issues in the Southwest region of the US. It assumes a basic proficiency in at least one water-related discipline- community & regional planning, engineering, resource economics, law, geology and biology among others‹or substantial professional experience in the water field. CRP faculty serve as instructors and steering committee members. The MWRA program is housed in the Division of Public Administration, 3rd Floor, Social Sciences Bldg, UNM (505-277-3312)

Institute for Environmental Education

The Institute for Environmental Education (IEE) engages in research aimed at raising the level of awareness, understanding, and knowledge of environmental design at all educational levels. It has a special focus on children, with projects such as Architecture & Children, that are intended to enhance youth appreciation of community planning and architecture.
