Homecoming Week will run September 26th through October 1st. The week starts off with Karaoke on Tuesday from 11am to 2pm in the SUB Atrium. Wednesday is the Homecoming King and Queen election from 9am - 5pm in the SUB or online. Thursday is the new event Silent Lights in Zimmerman Plaza from 8:30pm to 11pm (Click Here for more information). Friday is the All-Sports Pep Rally in the SUB Atrium from Noon - 1pm where the Homecoming Court is announced. Saturday is the Football game against San Jose State at 2pm with the Homecoming Coronation happening at Halftime.

Chartered Student Organizations at UNM can compete in the Banner Contest for cash prizes from the UNM Alumni Association/Alumni Relations Office. The deadline for competing is Monday, September 26th at 5:00 pm to the ASUNM Office, SUB Room 1016.
The following rules apply to the contest:
- Please use a standard sized twin bed sheet of any color
- Use paint, markers, fabric and other lightweight material. DO NOT USE GLITTER or any item that may fall off your banner and injure someone.
- Do not use the San Jose Spartans in any way that may be deemed offensive.
- The judges point system is as follows:
-- 20 points for including the words "Homecoming 2016" and "Howlabaloo"
-- 15 points for Lobo Theme
-- 5 points for including your student organization's name
-- 30 points for creativity
-- 30 points for Design/Skill/Look of the banner
1st Place - $300, 2nd Place - $200, 3rd Place - $100 provided by UNM Alumni Association/Alumni Relations Office. The banners will be hung in the SUB Atrium during Homecoming Week and judged on Wednesday, September 28th. Undergraduate students at the main campus of UNM may vote for one King and one Queen candidate in the Homecoming Election. Students may vote in-person by the SUB Welcome Desk or online at my.unm.edu. The Homecoming Court will be revealed at the All-Sports Pep Rally on Friday, September 30th at Noon in the SUB Atrium. The King and Queen will be announced on the field at Halftime of the football game on Saturday, October 1st.

Mariachi Nuevo Sonido is committed to the perpetuation of the vast range of Mexican traditional music and New Mexican music of the past and present. Nuevo Sonido emphasizes the authenticity and tradition of Mexican and New Mexican culture and reflects the international resurgence of mariachi music.
All members of Nuevo Sonido originate from Mexico and are all third generation Mariachis. All members have extensive performance and educational experience including the founder, Marvin Teitelbaum.
