The Old Albuquerque High School was built in the 1920s, when Albuquerque consisted of around 10,000 people. The school expanded as Albuquerque grew, but the school was relocated to a larger location in the 1970s. Since then, the school as sat vacant. It was a real eye sore until the Old School in East downtown Albuquerque began to be turned into Loft apartments around 2001. Recently, in July 2005, the conversion of the Gymnasium building into living space was completed.

Mara and I live in Loft 302, which is on the old wooden gym floor on the 3rd level. The floor to my loft is the actual basketball court. Take a look at some pictures of #302. The wooden closet, desk, and “bar” bench were hand made by me (with help from my talented mother). There are also some pictures of the building itself.
