PHRT110 Presents the basics of pharmacy practice, including drug nomenclature, medical terminology, and essential pharmacy skills. Includes practice in reading and interpreting prescriptions, packaging and dispensing medications, and an introduction to compounding and aseptic preparations. Lab: 88 hours. Prerequisites: ENGL 100, ACAD 101, MATH 100, and CHEM 111 (or equivalent). Co-requisites: CS150, HED 293, PHRT 111, PHRT 112, and PHRT 113.

Covers techniques for compounding of drug products; drug selection, packaging and stability; successful employment and customer service in pharmacy settings; and theory relating to parenteral products.
