OBJECTIVES:
  The sponsor provides fellowship support for advanced 
study at one of the Belgian universities or other academic 
institutions of higher education.

ELIGIBILITY
  Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a 
master's or equivalent degree; or be working towards a 
Ph.D. or the equivalent.  Preference is given to 
candidates under thirty years of age with a speaking and 
reading knowledge of French, Dutch, or German.

FUNDING
  Up to eight fellowships will be awarded. If the fellow 
chooses to remain less than the full twelve months, the 
stipend will be prorated accordingly.  The fellowship must 
be at least six months. The sponsor will also provide 
health insurance.

OBJECTIVES:
  Funding is provided for a student award to cover the 
costs of student membership and travel to the annual 
meeting.

ELIGIBILITY
  Individuals who are currently enrolled as students -- 
both graduate and undergraduate, international and 
domestic -- may apply.  Moreover, the award is not 
restricted to anthropology students; those enrolled
in the applied social sciences and other related 
disciplines are also strongly encouraged to apply. 
 Current membership in the sponsor organization is not 
required.

FUNDING
  The award consists of a $175 travel stipend to cover 
costs of attending the annual meeting, plus a one-year 
SFAA membership (which includes a year's subscription to 
the journals Human Organization and Practicing 
Anthropology).  Current members who have already paid dues 
for the current year will receive membership for the 
upcoming year.  The total value of the award is over $200.
