Restricted: NO RESTRICTIONS OBJECTIVES: The purpose of the fellowship is to pursue cutting-edge science and stimulate cross-fertilization of ideas. The fellows may participate in experimental and/or theoretical work at LLNL. They will have access to the sponsor's extensive computing facilities, specialized laboratory facilities and field equipment. As a premier national security laboratory, the sponsor's mission is to advance and apply science and technology to: Ensure the safety, security, and reliability of the U.S. nuclear deterrent; Reduce or counter threats to national and global security; Enhance the energy and environmental security of the nation; and Strengthen the nation’s economic competitiveness. ELIGIBILITY To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must either be in the process of completing their Ph.D. (within one year and employment may not start until Ph.D. requirements have been verified), or have received their Ph.D. degree within five years of being hired as a Lawrence Fellow. Although US citizenship is not required for application, candidates should be well versed on their current visa status (if any), and be prepared to provide this information should they be selected as a potential fellow. FUNDING Fellows will be paid a starting salary of $8,092 per month.
