Restricted: NO RESTRICTIONS OBJECTIVES: The sponsor offers opportunities for postgraduate scholars to study at the University of Melbourne. Any field is eligible, including the arts; education; psychology; music; law; architecture and planning; agriculture and forestry; economics and commerce; engineering; management; medicine, dentistry, and health sciences; science; and veterinary science. ELIGIBILITY Applicants must: have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a four-year Australian degree with a minimum result of second class Honours; and plan to undertake, or be currently enrolled in, a research higher degree (RHD). Research higher degrees have a research component of at least sixty-six percent. Applicants who have commenced their RHD must have at least twelve months full-time or equivalent candidature remaining. FUNDING The stipend for 2010 is A$22,500 per annum (full-time) to be used for living allowances only. The award does not exempt overseas applicants from paying the full fee for courses. MRS are awarded for three years for full-time Ph.D. studies and two years for full-time masters studies. Awardees will also receive a thesis Allowance of up to $420 (2010 rate) for masters by research and up to $840 (2010 rate) for PhD and other doctorate by research candidates, and a relocation grant.
