Program Description:
A most prestigious scholarship at UNM created in 1976-77, this
scholarship is offered to selected senior New Mexico residents with
proven academic and citizenship skills as demonstrated in the
classroom and positions of leadership. The award is renewable for
four years (including your freshmen year) if the student meets
specific renewal criteria. Presidential Scholars must communicate in
writing with their sponsor and provide a written record of that
communication to the Scholarship Office.
Application Deadline: December 3
Approximately $6,300 per year for the 08-09 academic year
(The tuition portion of this award is funded
by the Lottery Success Scholarship)
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Cumulative sixth semester 3.75
minimum grade point average

ACT composite score of 25 or higher
(or SAT of 1140)

Leadership experience with
outstanding extracurricular record
-
Statement of philosophy and purpose
-
New Mexico high school graduate
Four (4) year
renewable award
