Amigo Transfer Scholarship Program

Program Description:
The University of New Mexico Amigo Scholarship Program and the Amigo Transfer Scholarship Program entitle outstanding OUT-OF-STATE STUDENTS (Non-Residents) to a waiver of the out-of-state tuition portion granting a student in-state tuition and an award of $250 per semester provided a student meets renewal requirements.

Students applying for this scholarship must:

  1. Have a combined transfer college grade point average of 3.5 or higher

-OR-

  1. Have a combined cumulative transfer college grade point average of 3.25 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and;
  2. Have at least 30 hours of credited transfer hours and;
  3. Also meet the High School criteria for the Amigo Scholarship. The residency and renewal requirements specified for freshman apply to transfer students as well.

The scholarship may be renewed annually for up to two years provided the student meets requirements of 24 semester hours each academic year with a GPA of at least 3.0.  A student who fails to meet the requirements necessary to renew the scholarship also forfeits the privilege of resident tuition.

Scholarship Deadline
Due to the high number of applicants each year for this award, students are encouraged to apply early for admission and scholarships. The Amigo/Amigo Transfer Scholarship is awarded on a continuous first-come-first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to submit your application prior to May 1 for the Fall semester and November 1 for the Spring semester.
