Tribal Scholarships

Tribal Scholarships are handled by the Student Financial Aid Office, their contact information is listed below.

Native American students who wish to seek financial assistance from their respective tribes must apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Native American students must complete both a financial aid file with UNM’s Office of Student Financial Aid and a file with their respective tribal scholarship office.  Both processes must be done every school year.

The following documents will be required from most tribal scholarship offices:

  • Tribal Higher Education Application

  • Tribal Financial Need Analysis (FNA) completed and submitted by the school’s financial aid office

  • Academic Transcripts

  • Letter of Admission for new students. Majority of tribes request an official copy, check with your respective tribal higher education office to be sure

  • Certificate of Indian Blood

  • Verification of Enrollment for continuing students
