I moved to Albuquerque in August of 2010 when I became professor and chair of the Department of Geography at the University of New Mexico. I’ve had many exciting experiences living in diverse latitudes and longitudes. I received my BA in Geography and BS in Geology from the University of Minnesota in Duluth - I love Duluth! From there I spent 5 years at the State University of New York Buffalo where I earned my MA and PhD in Geography with David Mark. Then I shuffled off FROM Buffalo to St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada where I spent 3 years as an assistant professor in geography at Memorial University. From Newfoundland I headed back to the US to take up a post-doc position at the University of Maine in Orono, working with Max Egenhofer and Reg Golledge at the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis. After a year in Maine I headed back to the University of Minnesota in Duluth to become an assistant professor in the Department of Geography. I spent 14 years in residence at UMD, becoming an Associate Professor and finally a Professor. I took a leave from UMD in 2008 and moved to the Washington, DC area where I spent two years as a Program Officer in Geography and Spatial Sciences at the National Science Foundation. The.Best.Job.Ever! Which brings me to my current geographic location in geography at the University of New Mexico!
