BACKGROUND
The
University of New Mexico has a series of wells on the east and west banks of
the Rio Grande just south of Alameda Boulevard near the Albuquerque Bernalillo
County Water Utility Authority (ABCWUA) Diversion Dam as shown in the Vicinity
Map under the link “where is this project?”. There are four sets of five wells arranged in
an approximate 60 meter square pattern with one well at each corner and one in
the center. The four corner wells are
approximately located north, south, east and west. The wells are used for monitoring ground
water elevation that is used in analyzing the surface water/ground water
interaction between the river and the banks.
Water elevation is collected and logged at 15 minute intervals. Soil cores have been done at each well.
OBJECTIVE
My
objective with this project is to develop a 3-D soil profile at each grouping
of wells by interpolating between the individual soil
cores using Arc Scene. Water elevation
could then be interpolated and shown within the profile allowing a comparison
between the water level rise and soil type.
