We are a group of graduate and undergraduate students in a community development class at the University of New Mexico. We would like to facilitate community meetings with women. The purpose of these meetings is to provide women the opportunity to design projects that serve their needs. These projects typically generate income or provide needed services. We would like you to be part of the meetings and potentially benefit from this experience.

Your participation in the meetings is entirely voluntary. You may always ask any question you would like, and you may end your involvement at any time.

For your confidentiality, your name will not be recorded in any of the meetings. Your statements in the meetings will not be linked to you. Any information provided to other organizations from our meetings is only for purpose of relaying your needs. We must also have your permission in order to share your comments. In order to show the same consideration for your peers, we ask that you will not discuss with people outside the meetings what specific individuals express in the group. However, you may discuss the community development approach and the broad issues brought up at the meetings.

The minimum age for participating in this study is 18 years old.

With your permission, the community meetings may be videotaped to be used as an educational tool to train future community development facilitators. You can ask to have the video camera turned off any time during the meetings.

This community development experience has been approved by the Human Subjects Institutional Review Board of the University of New Mexico (Scholes Hall, Room 225, University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, 87131, (505) 277-6128).
