It shall be the purpose of this society to promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.
You must meet the following requirements for membership:
Undergraduates

Must be an officially declared sociology/criminology major or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within an official program of the host institution

Must be at a junior standing or higher

Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a sociology/criminology GPA of 3.0 or higher

Must have twelve credit hours of sociology/criminology courses completed

$60 membership fee ($40 for National Headquarters and $20 for local chapter)
Graduates
-
Completion of one-half year of graduate study in sociology/criminology with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and continued matriculation in a program of study leading toward a degree in sociology/criminology at UNM

To apply:
The Society will conduct two membership drives, one in early September and another in early February. For information, students should contact Dr. Jane Hood. Complete this application and return it to the Sociology main office in the Social Sciences Building (Room 1103), along with an unofficial transcript and a check payable to Alpha Kappa Delta. |
