The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Phillip Gonzales as Associate Dean for Faculty.  Professor Gonzales received his BA from the University of New Mexico and his MA and PhD (in Sociology) from the University of California - Berkley.  He returned to this campus as a member of the Department of Sociology in 1987.  Since that time he has distinguished himself as a nationally recognized scholar and respected faculty colleague.  Professor Gonzales brings a wealth of administrative experience to the position, having served as Department Chair and as Director of the Southwest Hispanic Research Institute.  In addition, he has been a leader in campus-wide diversity initiatives and has been an active participant in interdisciplinary programs.  We welcome Professor Gonzales to the Office of the Dean.
