Is the department's honors program for you? Take the honors quiz. THE HONORS QUIZ
If your answer is yes to #3 and two or more of the other questions, you should consider applying to the Department of Sociology’s Honors Program. What is the Honors Program? Honors students attend an introductory seminar (Sociology 399: Advanced Undergraduate Workshop in Sociology) in the spring semester. During this seminar, students read some of Sociology’s best scholarship, deepen their understanding of sociological theory and methods, and write their honors thesis proposals. During a subsequent semester, students complete their thesis projects as an independent study with their thesis advisors (490 or 499). For a detailed description of the honors program as well as proposal and thesis writing guidelines, go to Prof. Hood's ER page for 399-499. Use "learn399" as your password. Students interested in joining the Departmental Honors program should contact: Prof. Jane Hood |
