How to Apply for Undergraduate Students

Students transferring from University College into the College of Arts & Sciences (A&S) and declaring Sociology or Criminology as a major must meet the following criteria:

1. Completion of 26 hours earned credit

2. Possess a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher.

3. Satisfy the English Competency Requirement in one of these ways:
a. Completion of Engl 102 with a grade of C or higher
b. A score of 29 or better on the English portion of the Enhanced ACT
c. A score of 650 or better on the verbal portion of the SAT
d. Credit for Engl 102 through CEEB advanced placement program.
e. Acceptance of the writing proficiency portfolio

Students should make an appointment to see the departmental advisor, Karen Majors (majors@unm.edu; 277-2501). Bring with you to your appointment the ARTS & SCIENCES GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS CHECKLIST AND your E-progress report printed out from LoboWeb.

Students do not have to wait to begin coursework in their intended major until after they have transferred to A&S.

Entering freshmen and students transferring from other higher education institutions must apply to UNM through Admissions.
