UNDERGRADUATE HONORS PROGRAM

For Those Interested in Preparing for Graduate School and a Career in

RESEARCH ON MENTAL HEALTH AND
CO-MORBIDITY WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Program: CAREER OPPORTUNITIES TO RESEARCH (COR)

Sponsor: A joint program of the Department of Sociology and the UNM Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, & Addictions (CASAA)

Eligibility: Rising juniors who have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and are majoring in one of these areas:

BIOLOGY
PSYCHOLOGY
SOCIOLOGY
ANTHROPOLOGY
PHARMACY

Benefits: Those who are selected receive:

1. Two summer research placements with recognized scholars in an area of mental health and related areas of substance abuse.
2. Paid tuition ($3,000/yr & 60% thereafter).
3. An annual stipend of $10,956 (paid in monthly installments).
4. A travel allowance.
5. Academic career counseling and mentorship.
6. Basic Student Health Insurance.
7. Paid preparation for the Graduate Record Exams.
