Engineering Student Services Programs

Native Americans in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (NA-STEM)

The Native Americans in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (NA-STEM) program offers a variety of services designed to retain Native American students at UNM in math, science, technology or engineering.  NA-STEM offers scholarships, tutoring services, advisement, and sponsors several monthly social events.

For more information on NA-STEM, contact Maurice Thompson at (505) 277-5846 or napcoe@unm.edu

National Science Foundation (NSF) Scholarship Program

Funded through grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF); the Computer, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship (CSEMS) and the Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S-STEM) programs offer generous scholarships to students in a variety of engineering, mathematics and science disciplines.

Students are selected on the basis of financial need, academic merit, and potential for professional work.  The goal of this project is to provide the necessary financial and academic assistance to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full-time in the School of Engineering (SOE) and/or the College of Arts & Sciences (for math or science majors).

Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Program

WISE is a campus-wide program for women in undergraduate and graduate degree fields.  The program goal is to support women’s interest in science, math and engineering careers by providing networking, mentoring, enrichment activities and career development.

Men pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees are also welcome to join WISE. This unique opportunity opens these students' experience to working in a more diverse atmosphere in preparation for future careers.
