Professor Margo Milleret arrived at UNM in 1996. She was granted tenure and promotion in 2001. She serves as the undergraduate advisor and supervisor of teaching assistants in the Portuguese program. She organized the Brazil Summer Study Abroad Program to Forteleza in the late 1990s. Her research areas are Brazilian and Spanish American theater and Portuguese program development, especially pedagogy and program evaluation.
During her years at UNM Prof. Milleret has developed courses that introduce students to the art of play performance and digital video filmmaking. Many of her courses include projects in which students memorize and perform scenes or plays in Spanish or Portuguese. Prof. Milleret serves as the artistic director and advisor for these projects. Derek Roff of the Language Learning Center has been a key advisor to Prof. Milleret’s students in the technical and creative aspects of making digital videos.
