Neddy Vigil (Ph.D. University of New Mexico) is a Research Professor of Spanish and Portuguese. Among his publications is a co-authored article in the December 1993 issue of Hispania entitled: The use of the Cantigas de amigo for a History of Portuguese Language course. He was project director, with Garland Bills, on a three-year (1991-1994) National Endowment for the Humanities grant collecting data on the varieties of Spanish spoken in New Mexico and southern Colorado. This is currently the ongoing project New Mexico Colorado Spanish Survey. The book, co-authored with Garland D. Bills, The Spanish of New Mexico and southern Colorado: A dialect atlas, was published by University of New Mexico Press in 2008.
