Literature
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of
New Mexico offers the degrees of M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature.
Graduate students in Hispanic literature take advantage of the
unique collections representing the literature and culture of
the Spanish speaking world. The Hispanic Literature program at the University of New Mexico ranks high nationally among graduate programs. The large lower division Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) and Spanish as a Heritage Language (SHL) programs afford graduate students ample opportunities in course development as well as experience supervising lower division courses.
Recent Ph. D. graduates from the Hispanic Literature program have received positions at the University of Hawaii, University of Pittsburg, University of Montana. Recent Ph. D.
