For those who died so close to  us
And ne'er returned to love at home
To  those  whom  most  knew  but  a  bit
But live with us forever more

THEY WERE ASKED TO GO
AND THEY DID



The twenty fallen shipmates listed on this plaque, answered the call of our country.   They were asked to go to war and they did.  They served honorably in a war which has divided our country for decades.
 
THEY  DIED  IN  VIETNAM
 
They were not here to defend themselves against the criticism leveled against them by those who chose to dishonor their memory, belittle their service, and demean their character.
