Professing Education is published semi-annually by the Society of Professors of Education. The journal presents a collection of short provocative essays covering a variety of aspects of education. The goal of the journal is to engage the hot-button issues that concern Education through an ongoing series of theme oriented publications. The first issue was published Winter, 2002. The Sophist's Bane explores the lives and work of scholars and teachers in the field of education. The journal examines the ways in which professors of educaton can engage in the struggle to counteract superficial, commercial and formulaic influences on curriculum and teaching. To those ends, TSB hopes to nurture a broad conversation that is inclusive of a variety of philosophies and ideologies. The first issue of TSB was published Summer, 2002.
