The purposes of this SPJ student chapter shall be to:

1. Provide and promote a better understanding of the profession of journalism and of its values;

2. Stimulate and encourage professionalism in print and broadcast news;

3. Support ways in which members can be active within the Communication & Journalism Department and the entire campus;

4. Develop the individual abilities of its members; and to

5. Promote fellowship and the free exchange of ideas.
