GA/TA/SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORMS
PLEASE READ BEFORE FILLING OUT INFORMATION
A teaching assistant teaches activity classes in the Basic Instruction
Program. A graduate assistant
works in the Exercise Physiology Laboratories. The primary responsibility of the GA is to perform fitness
testing on students in the Basic Instruction Program. The Hickman Assistantship provides assistance to the Sport
Administration faculty. The Diehm
Scholarship carries no work responsibilities. You must carefully read all parts and pages of the
application and fill out all of the information which is appropriate for the
type of assistantship for which you are applying. Keep in mind that the more information you can provide about
your experience, interests, and abilities, the better able we will be to judge
your application against the many others we receive.
In deciding whether to apply for a graduate assistantship or teaching
assistantship, please keep in mind that we give very few of the former and
these go almost exclusively to doctoral candidates in Exercise Science.
You must be admitted to the Graduate School in order to be appointed as
a graduate assistant or teaching assistant. Therefore, at the same time you submit this application you
should submit your application for admission to Graduate School. Unfortunately, the process of admission
followed at the Graduate School often takes longer than departments can wait to
learn about applicantsÕ admissibility.
Your application for an assistantship will not be processed unless or
until we can determine that you will be admitted to the Graduate School.
Please try to have your application and all reporting materials in by
March 1.
