"WHEREAS the UNM Staff Council has determined that the environs of the University are proper concerns of the Staff Council,
THEREFORE, be it resolved that, the Staff Council this 18th day of November 2003, hereby creates a standing Environs Committee. The committee shall have as its mission and goal to address issues concerning safety, physical appearance and conditions of the workplace.
Membership on the committee shall be as provided for in the Staff Council By-Laws."

Council Action:__X___ Passed ______FailedWHEREAS the Security
Integration Initiative Rapid Redesign Project recommended the consolidation of the Police and Security Services.
WHEREAS the proposed UBPPM 2230 policy’s main intent is to require that all security services be contracted through the Police Department.
WHEREAS designated campus parking lots need security cameras.
WHEREAS the students, staff, faculty and community benefit from a centralized Police and Security system.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Staff Council recommends to the University of New Mexico Board of Regents the approval of UBPPM 2230 and that the Police Department be provided with the funds to implement improvements that will continue to ensure and enhance the safety and welfare of all students, staff, faculty and the community.
Copies of this resolution shall be sent to the Board of Regents, Acting President David Harris, and Carol Stephens, UNM Policy Office.
