Estimated Costs

Estimates may change without notice. The costs will vary by university and by country. Take into consideration the cost of living in another country, the exchange rate of the host currency to the US$, and your personal lifestyle. For UNM exchange programs, you will pay your tuition here at UNM for 12 hours each semester. For affiliated programs, you will pay the sponsoring agency based on their rates. You will also pay for housing, meals, medical expenses, etc. at the host school. Be sure to include in your budget:

  1. Exchange rates
  2. Passport Application Fee
  3. Student visa costs

Print out and use our budget worksheet (pdf) to develop a preliminary budget

Tip: You should look at your current resources and how you spend money at UNM. Asking yourself these questions may help:

  1. Do I have financial aid? www.unm.edu/~finaid
  2. Scholarships? www.unm.edu/~schol/schol.html
  3. Family assistance?
  4. Savings?
  5. Am I planning on working during the summer to save money to have overseas?
  6. Trust Fund?
  7. Investments?
