The Sustainability Studies Paradigm

Sustainability Studies addresses problems associated with climate change, carbon emissions, acid rain, nuclearism, energy dependency, resource depletion, neoliberalism, poverty, ecosystem collapse and war, with solutions that are equally accessible to all. In Sustainability Studies we research and develop technologies AND decision making processes that not only meet the needs, but also include the interests of all communities, while protecting our environment and fostering economic vitality for all.

Sustainability Studies Minor at UNM

A minor in Sustainability Studies at UNM equips students with the tools to shape a sustainable society in which we meet the needs of our present without compromising the lives of future generations. Meeting this demand means a certain amount of self reflection and critical analysis of the human role in our current planetary crisis. It also requires the immediate implementation of solutions so that our work in the university has relevance for the community at large.

Every student will benefit with a minor in Sustainability Studies! You can choose from a menu of electives which focus your major within the sustainability paradigm, and you will come together with other Sustainability Studies students, in a set of three core courses, in which you will explore the integrity and productivity of the themes, paradigms, concepts and practical application of sustainability.
