A Mixed-Genre Workshop in Fiction and Memoir (All Levels - Weeklong AM) - Dani Shapiro

We all carry our stories inside of us.  Some stories are easier to tell than others.  There are stories we polish into well-formed, amusing anecdotes, and others we bury deep until they rise up unexpectedly and take us by surprise.  When we attempt to write these stories, we are faced with our own resistance.  One of the most powerful ways to plumb the depths of our resistance and self-censorship is to come to know our own bodies and minds –– where our stories live.  This workshop will include meditation and yoga practice –– open to all levels from never-before-attempted such a thing, all the way to advanced practitioners.  Through the powerful combination of meditation, yoga, and serious attention to one another’s creative work, will explore the courage, persistence, and patience that are all a part of the writer’s life.  We will closely read the work of each class participant, as well as generate new work.  This will be a workshop experience that is at once discerning and inspiring.
