Master Classes
Taos Conference participants with book-length manuscripts in poetry, fiction, and memoir have the opportunity to participate in a small group workshop of no more than six members. A gifted and accomplished author will read the manuscripts of the members in advance of the class and tailor the focus and discussion to the revision and editing needs of the individuals taking part.
In 2009, John Dufresne and Jonis Agee will each lead one section of the Novel Master Class, Rob Wilder will lead the Memoir Master Class, and Valerie Martínez will lead the Poetry Master Class.
Fees
The workshop includes a personal consultation with the instructor and a written critique of the book-length manuscript. The registration fee for all classes is $750. The reading fee for the Novel and Memoir classes is $750, and participants should be aware that manuscripts must not be longer than 300 double-spaced pages. The reading fee for the Poetry class is $450 and the manuscript limit is 60 single-spaced pages, one poem per page.
Applying
Those who are interested in registering should submit a letter that describes the project and a 15-20 page writing sample along with a non-refundable $35 evaluation fee. Instructors will screen the applicants and offer admission to selected participants. Deposits will not be required until the selection process is final.
