Taos Conference participants with book-length manuscripts in poetry, fiction, and memoir have the opportunity to participate in a small group workshop of no more than six members. A gifted and accomplished author will read the manuscripts of the members in advance of the class and tailor the focus and discussion to the revision and editing needs of the individuals taking part.
In 2014, John Dufresne, Pam Houston, BK Loren and Summer Wood will each lead one section of the Novel/Short Story Master Class, Justin St. Germain will each lead one section of the Memoir Master Class, and Amy Beeder will lead one section of the Poetry Master Class.
The workshop includes a personal consultation with the instructor and a written critique of the book-length manuscript. The registration fee for all classes is $750. The reading fee for the Novel and Memoir classes is $775, the reading fee for Poetry classes is $500, and participants should be aware that manuscripts must not be longer than 300 double-spaced pages.
Those who are interested in registering should submit a letter that describes the project and a 15-20 page writing sample along with a non-refundable $35 evaluation fee, which can be paid online (click here) or mailed by check. Instructors will screen the applicants and offer admission to selected participants. Deposits will not be required until the selection process is final.
